Woodboring Insects
Our weather in the UK is unpredictable and even woodboring insects are affected by varying temperatures and rainfall. To preserve timbers it is important to seek competent and expert advice from a trained surveyor. Advantage Environmental has a Property Care Association trained surveyor to undertake preservation treatments for woodboring insects together with dry and wet rot. Using the latest products to counteract these problems, Advantage Environmental offers solutions which are as non invasive as possible. With the use of these latest products the minimal disturbance to the property occupier occurs.
If woodboring insects are infesting timbers in your property, careful attention is required to successfully restore timbers to their former state. Priority must be to focus on the cause of the insect infestation and its source - often excessive moisture. Woodboring insects, with some exceptions, requires timber to have in excess of 15% to allow them to survive. Therefore fundamental to any treatment is the reduction and subsequent control of any moisture located in the timbers and surrounding masonry.
The insect infestation requires correct identification prior to any corrective treatment is considered. A detailed survey and inspection is carried out by our competent surveyor. A report is submitted to the customer detailing the cause and recommended treatment to be carried out together with costings for the advised treatment.
